I offer three guideline specifications, but I can manufacture your kayak to individual preferences. Please phone or e-mail me to discuss the available options. There are numerous combinations with differing benefits. Please get in touch with your requirements and I’ll do my best to advise on the best construction. There is a lot of hype and misconception in the kayak market, but I believe in honesty and fair practice and will do my best to explain the true benefits and disadvantages of the materials. For a bombproof but not excessively heavy kayak, the entry level spec at £550 is sufficient. This is an ideal introductory/intermediate paddler spec and will cope with moderate impacts and abrasion. The best value kayak that I can produce is the Superlight version for £750. It is stiff, light and reparable, although as with any foam core kayak, reasonable care and prompt maintenance/repair needs to be taken to maximise the life of the kayak. The lightest kayak that I can produce is the same as the Superlight spec, but with a clear carbon-Kevlar deck. This saves approximately 1kg over the use of gel coat. |
