I have been thinking about this new design for a while. I wanted to take a lot of the benefits of the old 7’8 design and combine them in a new boat with a shorter tail to be a bit more manoeuvrable and snappy. I have kept the rocker fairly minimal to keep plenty of speed in the design and increased the width in the tail to compensate for the reduction in length. The tail flows back into a round pin which keeps a nice distinct curve in the outline rail shape. I have also compensated for the changes by narrowing the outline towards the front and adjusting the rocker profile to work with the new outline template. Other changes include an entirely new cockpit with improved ergonomics and perfect symmetry. A new lighter more adjustable seat (weight only 400-600g depending on spec!) It is possible to lay flat across the back deck safely and comfortably without any sharp areas which could cause back injury. This kayak has more footroom and should hopefully suit paddlers up to about 6’2-6’3 and size 10(UK) feet. This is to be confirmed as soon as I have chance to get some larger paddlers in it. I have compiled a couple of clips on YouTube to explain some of the design features, which I hope are useful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krFIaba7UaA
